Here is an example of a very successful cooperation between the German tour operator America Unlimited (america-unlimited.de) and the Canadian Tourism Commission - a Facebook campaign featuring a character called "Basil Beaver" who made a virtual journey thru Canada and reported about his experiences on Facebook.

With these "blogs", America Unlimited offered attractive travel packages to Canada, featuring the "Signature Experience Collection" of the Canadian Tourism Commission (canada.travel/SEC). With over 6,000 fans America Unlimited will continue to use this page for further Canada promotions.

Thus far, this promotion has generated 480 additional clients to Canada - a true success story! - Enclosed you will find a sample of the FB entries - in this case "Basil Beaver" is reporting about his expriences with beluga whales in Manitoba.

A photo shooting in Western Canada with Germany`s legendary singer and actress Katja Ebstein and photographer Erwin Schneider resulted in articles in women's and travel magazines reaching a total advertising value of over EUR 1,500.000 - Shortly before the 2010 Vancouver Games, the world's most successful luger of all times, Georg Hackl and bestseller author Susanne Fröhlich experienced golf, shopping, wining and dining and visits of Olympic sites in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.

Exposure in electronic and print media resulted in an advertising value of over EUR 2,000,000.

Many successful promotions with non-tourism partners were carried out. It all started with a CANADA WEEK in one of Düsseldorf's leading shopping malls with over 100,000 visitors during a weekend - including a Canadian fashion show and activities such as gold panning.

Photo shootings with Jack Wolfskin and Globetrotter Ausrüstung resulted in major exposure in their product catalogues. Other partners included well-known brands such as Porsche, Logona cosmetics and Sympatex.
